How to Make Your Closet More Convenient
Posted on: February 29, 2020 | by: admin

We have all had a time where we couldn’t find something in our closet due to a mess. On some days, your closet can look like a dream, but on other days, it may look like a tornado paid a visit. Today we will present some cool closet organizing ideas to keep your closet looking flawless and make it easier to access!
Our goal is to help motivate you to maintain a tidy and attractive closet, so you can grab whatever you need easily and be out the door in seconds. Whether it is changing up the style or transferring some items to another place, we hope that you find something of use here!
Make your closet look good first
It is a psychological fact that people are more likely to keep a space clean if it has potential to look good. You may have to put in a little bit of effort to do this, but it is a one-time task and it will make a huge difference. Here are some of the ways you can make your closet a lot nicer to look at.
Buy velvet or wooden hangers
There are many people who still use wire hangers, but these are not efficient for various reasons. One of the reasons is that they look unattractive and cheap. They also do not provide a grip for your clothes that are more likely to slip from the hanger. Velvet hangers can help greatly with this, as the material secures your clothes in place, even if it is a spaghetti-strap tank top! Wooden hangers sometimes have a rigid area where the sleeves are supposed to go, so that solves the issue. We would recommend looking into velvet hangers first as they tend to take up less space.
Create a color scheme or organize by season
Do you ever go on Pinterest or Instagram and see all these nice minimalist closets that have subtle neutral tones? If you have a closet with both neutrals and brights, you should try to separate them into two piles and store away one of the piles according to season. Learn which colors are ideal to wear for each season.
Do not store non-fashion items in your bedroom closet
It is tempting to store away items that are not related to fashion in your bedroom closet when you cannot find any space elsewhere in the home, but we highly suggest you refrain from doing this as it can really ruin the aesthetic of your space. Instead, try looking into self-storage. While you are at it, you can also store away the other seasonal clothes that are not in use at the moment. After you do this, you will have so much more space, so you can now spread out each of your clothing items to see them better!
Insert shelves and compartments wherever you can
Most closets have the ability to include shelves and compartments, whether it is a small sliding-door closet, or a spacious walk-in closet. We would definitely recommend creating compartments for your shoes and accessories, as those can get cluttered more easily. Do not be afraid to ask for help from a friend or family member if you need! For compartments, you can just buy them from a home store if you don’t want to create your own. Here are some convenient ways to organize your shoes and accessories.
Shoes
Rectangular shoe boxes with a compartment for each pair of shoes seems to work for a lot of people. This way, you can have all your shoes on display and they won’t rub against other pairs of shoes or smush them, ruining the shape.
Jewelry Items
You can actually find an organizer that has numerous little plastic pockets, which you can hang directly. You can either do that, or hang up your nicer, bulkier jewelry items on a wall if you have a walk-in closet.
Purses and wallets
Your everyday purse can be hung on the side of the wall with a hook, and then you can store your additional purses and wallets (that are in season) in a bin that has a lid so dust does not collect on them. When buying bins, try to look for ones made of cloth instead of plastic, just because they look nicer and carry out the same function.
Ties
For men, you may or may not already be using straight hooks for storing ties. If you are not, you should certainly look into doing this to prevent additional creasing on the ties.
If you decide to take advantage of these tips, we can assure you that you will think twice before just throwing your items into your closet to organize later. You will no longer have to go through a rough morning of not being able to find anything and being late to work or school. This will also be a lovely way to start your spring cleaning!
